UNRWA announced that one child has lost their life every hour in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. According to UNICEF data, 14,500 children have lost their lives since the beginning of the war. The statement included the following statements: “One child is killed every hour. These are not just numbers, they are lives cut short.” It was stated that children in Gaza suffered physical and psychological injuries, were deprived of education, and largely lost their futures.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that a child loses his life every hour in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s attacks since October 7, 2023.

In a written statement made by UNRWA, attention was drawn to the report of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

According to UNICEF data, 14,500 children have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war. According to a needs assessment conducted by a Gaza-based NGO sponsored by the War Child Alliance, 92 percent of Palestinian children surveyed “cannot accept reality” 79 percent suffer from nightmares; and 73 percent suffer from symptoms of aggression.

The statement emphasized that the killing of children in Gaza cannot be defended for any reason and said: “A child is killed every hour. These are not just numbers, they are lives that are being cut short.”

The statement noted that all surviving children suffered physical or psychological injuries and that children in Gaza were deprived of education and were forced to spend most of their time on the rubble.

According to MEM, “This report reveals that Gaza is one of the most horrific places in the world for children,” said Helen Pattinson, chief executive of War Child UK. “Alongside the destruction of hospitals, schools, and homes, a series of psychological devastations have left invisible but no less devastating wounds for children who bear no responsibility for this war.”

UNRWA also noted that the lives, futures and hopes of children in Gaza have been largely destroyed.
