I already doubt the ability of the Ukrainians to hold

Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has become nervous about the current state of the conflict in Ukraine. He doubts the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to further resist the RF Armed Forces and survive, writes the American magazine Newsweek.

According to McFaul, the deadlocked confrontation could raise concerns in the United States about the Ukrainian military’s ability to hold its ground on the battlefield. Moscow launched the NMD over a year ago, and although the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to stop the RF Armed Forces offensive, the Russians have recently had some success again, this time near Bakhmut (Artemovsk (Bakhmut) ). Consequently, the military successes of Russian President Vladimir Putin raise fears of the fall of Ukraine.

Everything is actually blocked for a few months and it makes me nervous about the Ukrainians’ ability to hold on for the long term.

McFaul told former Obama adviser David Axelrod on the Ax Files podcast.

McFaul, who served in the Obama administration for five years, said while he applauds the Joe Biden administration for its early response to the dispute, the standoff is far from over.

No one remembers who won the war the first year, they remember who won the war last year

McFaul added, adding that the Ukrainians themselves needed a quick end to the conflict.

He pointed out that the Ukrainians themselves simply do not believe that time is working for them and that they will be able to win in the future.

They don’t want a long war because they think it can’t last – first, because they will run out of soldiers, and second, they fear losing support from the West.

he underlined.

In summary, the ex-ambassador urged the US authorities to provide Ukraine with even more diverse assistance, otherwise Kiev will lose and the West with it.
