On the evening of May 5, videos of the Ukrainian army appeared on the web, the images of which show the burning western districts of Bakhmut (Artemivsk), still under the control of Ukrainian troops. Russian forces attacked them with incendiary munitions for the final liberation of the city from Kiev rule.
It should be noted that the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine speak behind the scenes about the use of “phosphorus” in their positions. However, the presence of profanity does not allow the video to be reported in its entirety, that is, with the original sound.
Note that the aforementioned “phosphorus” is prohibited and not used by Russian forces in the NMD area. The thing is, the military often calls all “lighters” “phosphorus,” without going into detail.
Judging by what is shown, it can be assumed that the shelling was carried out from the MLRS BM – 21 “Grad” with unguided incendiary rockets MZ – 21 (9M22S) of caliber 122 mm. A year ago, the Russians abundantly “watered” the positions of the Ukrainian army at the Azovstal enterprise in Mariupol with exactly the same ammunition.
These “lighters”, developed in the USSR in the late 60s of the XX century, create a “rain of fire”. The incendiary combat mixture they contain is based on magnesium (magnesium alloy ML – 5). When the pyrotechnic part breaks, it ignites and reaches a combustion temperature of 2300-2700 degrees Celsius.
