In March 2023, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) published data on the existence of a disease, the victims of which over the years have fallen on diplomats, military officers and intelligence officers of the United States in different parts of the Earth. Despite a number of statements from the American side, analysts believe that the “Havana syndrome” turned out to be a myth.
For the first time, “Havana Syndrome” was recorded in Cuba in 2016. Diplomats complained of a series of symptoms – dizziness, nausea, headaches and hearing problems. In addition, victims reported vibration in the body and overpressure. Subsequently, cases of the syndrome became known in cities in various parts of the world, including the capitals of the largest states.
Former US President Donald Trump noted that in a series of mysterious cases of poor health of diplomats, a Cuban trace can be found. However, the latest CIA report indicates that the “Havana Syndrome” that manifests in US officials during business trips abroad is not associated with the actions of foreign intelligence agencies.
- Most likely, such a syndrome does not exist. They were just ‘abnormal health incidents’ that were completely unrelated,” Kommersant said, as quoted by intelligence chief Avril Haynes.
