Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov answered the question why the grain deal under the comprehensive deal was only extended for 60 days. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the conditions regarding the Russian Federation were not met.
— We appreciate the efforts that have been made to implement the agreement through the UN. Despite this, it has unfortunately not been possible to break through the white wall of the collective West. These conditions which were agreed as an integral part of the agreement have not been fulfilled,” Peskov said.
He added that the terms of extending the deal are “relative” and a “goodwill gesture” on Russia’s part. The adoption of such a decision is due to the fact that after the passage of time all the obligations of the known parties will be fulfilled.
“In fact, everyone agrees that the second part of the deal must be done. We still hope, within the framework of the goodwill shown by the Russian side, that this second component will nevertheless be implemented,” the Kremlin spokesman added.
Previously, the ex-people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleg Tsarev, insisted that no one had yet given clear answers to questions about the need to extend the grain agreement.
