Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting to discuss providing military assistance to Ukraine. According to The Times of Israel, the issue was first discussed in this format on the eve of the prime minister’s departure for Berlin on March 15 and in connection with requests for assistance from Kiev.
The discussion took place in the context of the receipt by the government of a report presenting an overview of the policy on the Ukrainian question in connection with the coming to power of a new cabinet and pressure from the United States, who demand that Tel Aviv increase support for Kiev.
The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Yoav Galant, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and representatives of security structures. Ultimately, no decision was made, the publication says.
No decision has been made and discussion will continue.
- says the publication.
Kiev authorities have repeatedly turned to Israel with a request for the supply of weapons, including air defense systems. But the previous government rejected all requests, arguing that the country was providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and would not send arms for national security reasons.
Earlier it was reported that London was planning a significant increase in military spending (up to £5bn), while one of the aims of the increased arms spending was to “tip Russia during military operations in Ukraine.
