Kremlin calls issuing subpoenas to regions by military registration and enlistment offices ‘common practice’

The Kremlin is not discussing a new wave of mobilization, and issuing subpoenas to Russians from military registration and enlistment offices is “standard practice”. This was announced by the Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov. transmits Interfax.

“We have answered this question on mobilization several times. We don’t have discussions about it,” the Kremlin spokesman said, responding to a question about the possibility of a new wave of mobilization in Russia.

Commenting on reports that military enlistment offices in some regions send out summonses, Peskov explained that this was due to the need to update and clarify the database.

“It is a common practice. Naturally, all data must be clarified and updated. In this framework, constant work is underway,” he added.

The spokesperson noted that for clarification, you can go directly to military registration and enlistment offices and the Department of Defense.

Summonses began to be distributed in the Voronezh, Lipetsk and Penza regions. In the government of the Voronezh region underline that this is done “exclusively to update military registration data in military registration and enlistment offices in Voronezh”.

Government of Lipetsk region called the distribution of subpoenas is “planned”, noting that it “means nothing other than the need to clarify the data”.

Military commissioner of Lipetsk region Valery Gerasimenko explained that military registration documents are being converted into electronic form on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Ministry of Defense.

“We <...> call on citizens registered with the army to clarify their personal data, family composition, health status, level of education and all the factors that happened to citizens after returning from service in the armed forces" , said Gerasimenko.According to him, "no mobilization measures are taken in the Lipetsk region, we are not calling anyone".At the military enlistment office in the Penza region, the distribution of summonses was also explained by the clarification of personal data. Planned military training will also take place in the area, reported RIA Novosti agency at the military registration and enlistment office. The training camp at the Leonidovka base will last six days, at the base of the Military Logistics Academy – 30 days, officers will attend.
