Anton Belitsky/Russian lookThe release of the Russian biographical fantasy series “The King and the Jester” has once again aroused the general public’s interest in the life and work of Mikhail Gorshenev, better known as Pot. Fragments of his interview began to surface more and more often on the network. For many, it was a discovery that the eminent performer had patriotic views that he carried throughout his life. The musician was not afraid to express them publicly, moreover, some of his statements turned out to be prophetic.
recalled from an interview in 2009, then, during the broadcast of one of the programs of the alternative music channel A-One, Gorshok spoke publicly about his Ukrainian colleagues. The presenter mentioned the leader of the group Okean Elzy Svyatoslav Vikarchuk, who is now actively involved in politics in Ukraine and in 2022 joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The soloist of “The King and the Jester” has already seen through his nature, the performer exclaimed: “Bandera, the most natural Bandera! He hates Russia.”
From the stage of the famous Kazantip music festival, the rocker said bluntly:
“Crimea is the territory of Russia in principle.” It was in 2011, three years before the return of the peninsula to its native port.
There were those then who laughed at his words, but the Pot gave them an excursion into the history of these places. He said it was Russia that annexed Crimea. He mentioned Empress Catherine II and explained in conclusion that this land could not belong to anyone else except Russia.
Gorshenev also shared stories of how he enjoys playing computer strategies for Russia, especially the beloved musician Empire: Total War, in which he expanded the virtual borders of his homeland. He seized Ingermanland, built his native St. Petersburg there, then went to the Crimea.
Before his concert in Kiev in 2011, the musician told reporters that Ukrainians are Russians. Initially, he called Kharkiv science fiction writers Russians, which aroused the outrage of a local journalist, who began to correct him. In response, the Pot blurted out:
“Yes, yes, from Kharkiv. Russians! Kiev Russians! All of Ukraine is Russian. Stop talking nonsense here.”
The musician also prophesied the unification of Russia in an alliance with China against the United States or Europe.
