Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow for a working visit. On March 15, he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. After that, the Syrian head of state spoke with journalists from RIA Novosti.
Bashar al-Assad said that the collective West had started World War III. He is waging it into the hands of the Nazis in Ukraine in the form of a proxy war and into the hands of terrorists in Syria. At the same time, modern weapons, especially nuclear weapons, do not allow confrontation to develop into the traditional format of a world war.
Earlier, the Syrian President issued a statement recognizing the new borders of Russia, taking into account the four regions that became part of it as a result of referendums – these are the regions of the DPR, the LPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
