Vasily Anokhin was appointed acting governor of the Smolensk region. The corresponding decree was published on the official Kremlin website. The document comes into effect on Friday, March 17.
- To appoint Anokhin Vasily Nikolaevich as acting governor of the Smolensk region until the person elected governor of the Smolensk region takes office, reads the text of the decree.
According to the text of the document, Alexei Ostrovsky, who has led the region since 2012, left his post of his own free will.
Vasily Anokhin, 39, has experience in the administration of the Smolensk region. In the period from 2015 to 2016, he headed the representative office of the regional administration under the government of the Russian Federation. Since September 2016 he has been Deputy Governor of the Smolensk region. In this position, the official supervised the work of the financial block.
Subsequently, Anokhin went to work in the secretariat of the then Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko. Since March 2020, the official has held the position of deputy head of the secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. In January 2021, Vasily Anokhin headed the Department of Regional Development of the Government of the Russian Federation.
