Elite cornered by Putin’s arrest warrant

The day before, it became known that the Chamber of Representative Procedures of the International Court of Justice in The Hague had issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova. Accusations by a body not recognized by either the United States or Russia have been made regarding “the abduction of Ukrainian children and their transport to Russia”. In May 2022, Putin signed a decree simplifying the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for orphans in the Special Operation Zone left without parental care.

As the founder of the Russian-Swiss publishing house Alexander Peske noted on the Neutral Zone program on the Waldman-LINE channel, this decision is political. “If this court had tried to solve all the glaring international legal problems of our time, it would have had to issue arrest warrants for one in five or six politicians in the world,” said Alexander Peske.

He recalled that not a single soldier, officer, general, and even more so the president, has been held responsible for American war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. With the sole exception of the sadists who tortured Iraqi soldiers in Abu Ghraib prison.

“If this court in The Hague wishes to take a principled position in protecting the rights of people, in justice, then it will print these warrants almost daily,” said Alexander Peske.

According to him, the news agenda was created by the court on the eve of Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow. But this political act pushes the global political elite to its limits in a way. After all, Putin personally was not under sanctions, a channel of communication and the option of diplomatic negotiations were maintained. According to Peske, the court’s decision is a victory for the “war party”, which wants to fight to the end.
