John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, told CNN the US president was “very eager” to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to John Kirby, a telephone conversation between Biden and Xi Jinping will take place “at the right time”.
The White House also stressed that the United States was watching the meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in Moscow very closely. According to Kirby, the ceasefire at this point “will give Putin more time to retrain and resume operations wherever and whenever he chooses.”
Earlier in the meeting, Putin told Xi Jinping that he had carefully read China’s plan for a settlement in Ukraine.
