Xi noted that he chose Moscow for the first visit after being re-elected, just like 10 years ago.
The Kremlin hosted the first of a series of meetings between Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who was in Moscow for a three-day visit. During the conversation, the two leaders made a number of statements.
The President of Russia was the first to speak. He welcomed Xi and noted the incredible pace of China’s economic development he has achieved in recent years.
“China has made a breakthrough, all over the world it is arousing real interest and we even envy you a little. China has a very efficient economic development system. It is much more efficient than in other countries,” began the Russian president.
Putin said he carefully read China’s plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and suggested that this issue be discussed in future meetings. He noted that Russia is always open to dialogue with Ukraine.
Xi Jinping, in turn, called Vladimir Putin a dear friend and wished him victory in the upcoming presidential elections.
“You will have elections next year, I’m sure the Russian people will support you, thanks to your strong leadership, the country has reached great heights,” the China leader said. He noted that the alliance with Russia is very important to him and that he did not choose Moscow for his first visit after being re-elected, just like 10 years ago.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s plane landed in Moscow around noon today. He was met at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. “My visit will be fruitful and give new impetus to the development of relations with Russia,” Xi said as he got off the plane.
On the eve of the Chinese leader’s historic visit to Moscow, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin exchanged media publications. Thus, the Russian leader wrote an article for the People’s Daily. And the answer was not long in coming – the head of the PRC published an author’s publication in the Russian media.
