Gundarov recalled that depleted uranium munitions were used in Iraq and Yugoslavia.
“After the end of the war in Yugoslavia, under pressure from the UN, studies were carried out on how these munitions affected background radiation. But since the studies were carried out by the same countries that bombed Yugoslavia, then, of course, they recognized that these munitions have no consequences for the population, and the radiation background at the place of their use remains normal. Of course, this is far from the case, ”warned the expert.
Gundarov explained that depleted uranium does not have an instant effect on a person, but the accumulated radionuclides create a problem because they do not decay and enter the bodies of people and animals with food. This influence, according to the expert, has not yet been studied.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a press conference following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, said Moscow would be forced to respond to the supply of depleted uranium projectiles to Ukraine “from appropriate way”, because “the collective West is already beginning to use weapons with a nuclear component.
