Russian Embassy: US comments on non-involvement in Nord Stream attacks do not inspire confidence

March 24, 2023

Statements by the American side that the United States had nothing to do with the sabotage of the Russian Nord Stream gas transportation system do not inspire confidence. This position was expressed at the Russian Embassy in Washington.

“The words of local officials, who have previously refrained from deception and misinformation on several occasions, including on international platforms, do not inspire confidence. Especially in the context of public promises by administration officials to “end” critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea and discussions of the unacceptability of mutually beneficial energy ties between the Russian Federation and Europe,” says the message on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

Russian diplomats have also called for an impartial international investigation into the sabotage.

Earlier Thursday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told Congress that no US federal agency could be involved in the disruption of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
