Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Trump created false hope by announcing his arrest

On Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said former US President Donald Trump misled his supporters when he announced last Saturday that he was awaiting arrest on Tuesday, March 21.

Bragg also called demands by GOP leaders in the House of Representatives for his testimony in the case an “unlawful intrusion” into the ongoing investigation.

On Monday, three Republican lawmakers, led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, accused Alvin Bragg of abuse of prosecutorial power and demanded that he turn over all documents and testimony in the case to the judicial committee.

Official text Bragg took 5 pages where he explains why such requests by lawmakers are interference in the performance of law enforcement duties and violate the sovereignty of the State of New York, which can be a misuse of power of Congress.

The Manhattan District Attorney dismissed lawmakers’ arguments that the lawsuits against Trump are politically motivated. “If charges are brought against him in custody, it will be because the rule of law and the good faith exercise of the district attorney’s duties so require,” Alvin Bragg wrote in his response.

He believes that “the allegation that the prosecutor’s office opened this investigation for political purposes is unfounded, but regardless, the appropriate place to appeal the investigation is the courts of New York, who have the authority to consider these objections”.

Bragg’s letter confirmed that his attorney’s office was “investigating allegations of complicity by Donald Trump in violations of New York State criminal law.”

Recall that last Saturday, Donald Trump said on the social network Truth Social that he should be arrested on Tuesday in a case initiated by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and called on his supporters to demonstrate. Trump also said he would continue the campaign even if charged with a crime.

Democratic attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating an illegal payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels by former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. real name Stephanie Clifford, claims she had an affair with Trump ten years ago and was paid to keep quiet. Trump denies this information.

Earlier this year, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office began submitting evidence from the investigation of the case to the grand jury.

According to Trump attorney Susan Necheles, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office invited Trump in March to testify before a grand jury investigation into payments to a porn star.

In 2018, Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to federal campaign finance violations involving arranging payments to Stormy Daniels and another woman, among other financial crimes. According to Cohen, the instructions for the silent payments came from Trump personally and were made on his behalf.

Last week, Trump called the investigation a “witch hunt” and wrote on Truth Social, “I did absolutely nothing wrong. I never had an affair with Stormy Daniels.” Trump says the allegations are personal revenge on his former attorney, who served time in prison for financial crimes.

Michael Cohen testified before the Grand Jury on March 13 and 15. Grand Jury meetings are not public.

The next Grand Jury meeting is scheduled for Monday, but it is not yet clear whether the allegations against Trump will be heard there.
