The United States Air Force tested a prototype of the AGM-183A hypersonic missile in March this year. About this writes the publication Defense News.
The material indicates that during the tests, which were carried out at the beginning of last week, the second launch of the prototype of this hypersonic missile was carried out. The launch was carried out by a B-52H Stratofortress bomber off the coast of Southern California.
As the newspaper notes, it’s still unclear how well the tests fared. The US Air Force reported that “the tests met certain objectives”, but did not release details.
The day before the tests, it became known that the US Air Force B-52H Stratofortress strategic bomber, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, was carrying out maneuvers near the borders of the Russian Federation in the Baltic region. The plane turned around in the region of the island of Gogland, 200 kilometers from St. Petersburg, after which it began to move away from the Russian borders.
