Putin and Erdogan discussed the situation in Ukraine

Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by telephone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about the situation in Ukraine, as well as the extension of the grain agreement. This was reported in the office of the Turkish President.

“During the conversation, measures were discussed to improve relations between Turkey and Russia and the events related to the Russian-Ukrainian war. President Erdogan thanked Russian President Putin for his positive position on the extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The Turkish president said that Ankara attaches great importance to the earliest end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through negotiations.

Erdogan also expressed his confidence that Turkey and Russia can take further steps based on the economic cooperation agreed in Sochi. However, details as to what those steps might be are not known.
