“Russia, of course, has something to answer. We have, without exaggeration, hundreds of thousands, hundreds of thousands of such shells. We are not using them yet,” said the head of state.

At the same time, Putin disagreed with the assertion of the United Kingdom, which announced at the end of March that it was delivering depleted uranium munitions that such projectiles would not cause consequences.

“This, of course, is not true. The fact is that they, of course, do not belong to the category of weapons of mass destruction. It’s true. But the core of a projectile containing depleted uranium <…> always generates so-called radiation dust. And in this sense, it is of course one of the most dangerous weapons," the president said.According to the Head of State, the probability of radioactive dust entering the environment makes these munitions dangerous for humans.
