Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Borrell: EU will respond with new sanctions to Russia’s deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus

The European Union (EU) is ready to respond with new sanctions to Russia’s deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, spoke about it on his Twitter page.

“The deployment of Russian nuclear weapons by Belarus would mean an irresponsible escalation and a threat to European security. Belarus can stop that, it’s their choice. The EU is ready to respond with new sanctions,” he wrote.

Earlier it became known that Russia will place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the deployment of weapons will take place without violating relevant international obligations. According to him, the reason for this decision was London’s statement regarding the supply of depleted uranium ammunition to Kiev.
