On March 26, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Kang and Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Reyna held talks in Beijing and signed a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations. The joint communiqué said that the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Honduras, in accordance with the interests and wishes of the peoples of the two countries, have decided to recognize each other and establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level from the day of the signing of the communique.
The Governments of the two countries have agreed to maintain friendly relations between the two countries on the principle of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-violence, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit and peaceful coexistence. The Government of Honduras recognizes that there is only one China in the world, and that the People’s Republic of China is the only legal government representing the whole of China, and that Taiwan is an integral part of China. The Government of the People’s Republic of China appreciates the above stand of the Government of the Republic of Honduras.
