Sheikh Abd al-Rashid Sufi narrated a touching story about his father, who was in a coma for a year, and who memorized the Noble Qur’an.
Sheikh Abd al-Rashid Sufi said in an interview with Al-Jazeera channel that they took his sick father to Egypt – while he was in a coma – to show him to the doctors there.
He explained that the doctors in Egypt assured him that his father’s condition was hopeless, and that he had only a week or two before him and he would die, just as the doctors in Somalia said the same thing.
And he added: I used to read the Qur’an with him (while he was on his sick bed in a coma), and a mistake came to me that he corrected for me, and when he woke up from his coma after a year or more, God healed him and completely recovered him from all the diseases he had, and we do not count it except as the dignity of the Holy Qur’an.

And Sheikh Sufi added: The story here is that after a year or more of his coma, when he returned to his condition, he did not lose sight of a letter of God’s words, not even the narrations and readings.
And Sheikh Sufi went on to say: My father, may God have mercy on him, was his daily response – and not in Ramadan – to read 10 parts, and he used to complete the entire Qur’an every 3 days.
And he continued: I was studying at Al-Azhar, and when I returned to Somalia on vacation, he asked me how much do you complete?, so I said every 7 days, so he broke me, and I thought he would be happy with me, and he told me that you do not understand the meaning of this speech, every verse per week passes you once.
Sheikh Sufi concluded his speech by saying: "The people of the Qur’an, may God honor and honor them".
