According to White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby, Washington is closely monitoring Russian statements regarding any use of nuclear weapons. For the moment, the American authorities have no information indicating that Moscow is preparing to use such weapons, he stressed.
He explained that the United States does not observe any action by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the use of tactical nuclear weapons in the area of the special operation. The White House spokesman recalled that the United States warned Russia about the possible consequences that await Russia if it uses nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine.
It should be noted that Vladimir Putin earlier announced the deployment of nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, as well as the decision of the Kremlin to cease participation in the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (START). In response, the United States announced the end of the exchange of nuclear weapons data with Russia.
