The Qatari Forum for Authors held the first training session for the university preacher competition, which is organized by the forum, through its initiative “Qatar Speech Scale”, in cooperation with Qatar University, with the participation of more than 70 students from the country’s universities. During the session, in which male and female students from universities in Qatar participated, fifteen sermons were presented in the fields of graduate speech, presentations, scientific disciplines, and presentation of sessions. Eight preachers qualified for the competitive stage, while another opportunity will be available for the rest of the preachers to repeat their speeches, taking notes next week.
The new version of “Qatar Speech Scale” bears the name "Withdrawal Wael"It targets university students, male and female graduates, to introduce their academic specialties and accurate scientific departments through rhetoric, with the aim of refining the rhetorical and influencing skills of tomorrow’s leaders. Eight trainers, both male and female, who are specialists and interested in Arabic rhetoric, participated in the training, as well as supervisors of the initiative, and representatives of Qatar University and the Qatari Forum for Authors.
The training was based on special rhetorical standards for university preachers, focusing on communication skills and the arts of recitation.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Janabi, the linguistic expert and supervisor of the Qatar Public Speaking Initiative, said that the first training session was preceded by an educational and introductory workshop, in order to qualify the preachers for the competition stage, to prepare influential and persuasive preachers in the various fields of rhetoric, explaining that the educational goal is presented to the qualifying stage that It comes later, as every preacher must attend the workshop, then practice giving a speech and receive notes about it, and then participate in the competition for the finalists, and this is what is unique to this initiative.
