The Lefortovo court in Moscow has arrested Evan Gershkovich, a journalist for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), who was previously detained in Yekaterinburg, on suspicion of espionage. It is reported by TASS.
The court chose the American journalist a coercive measure in the form of detention. According to the news agency, Gershkovich’s case is marked “top secret”. The WSJ correspondent does not acknowledge the spying allegations.
Recall that on March 30 it became known that the FSB in Yekaterinburg arrested the American journalist Evan Gershkovich. The WSJ correspondent was suspected of having collected secret state documents on a Russian defense industry company.
The Wall Street Journal said it was “deeply concerned” by the journalist’s detention.
