The activities of Wall Street Journal correspondent Evan Gershkovich, detained in Yekaterinburg, have nothing to do with journalism. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. According to her, Gershkovich used his status as an employee of an American newspaper for other activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“Unfortunately, this is not the first time that ‘foreign correspondent’ status, visa and journalist accreditation have been used by foreigners in our country to conceal non-journalistic activities. This is not not the first well-known westerner who is “grabbed by the hand,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
Recall that Gershkovich was detained in Yekaterinburg by the Federal Security Service.
