Since the start of large-scale hostilities on Ukrainian territory, American specialists have trained more than 7,000 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reports CNN citing Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder.
This week, 65 Ukrainians trained in the use of Patriot air defense systems at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, returned to Europe after completing their studies, he said.
Ryder also announced that more than 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers will undergo combined arms training in Germany later this month, including two brigades, one equipped with Bradley fighting vehicles and the other with Stryker vehicles.
“Additional combined arms training continues at the Grafenwöhr and Hohenfels training grounds in Germany with the participation of two motorized infantry battalions of 1,200 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel,” Ryder said.
On March 27, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed their training on Challenger 2 tanks in Britain. The process of training and approval of new units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine takes at least two months, as Serhiy Savchenko, Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, notes in his article “11 months of war: the fight for a strategic initiative keep on going.”
