Today, the Qatari Center for Stamps and Coins of the Ministry of Culture held the twenty-fourth Ramadan auction for stamps and coins, at its headquarters in Al Sadd, with the participation of collectors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, Egypt and Lebanon. The auction included 258 items and a collection of stamps, coins, postcards, medals and envelopes from Qatar, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Arab countries. Regarding the holding of the auction, Mr. Hussein Rajab Al-Ismail, Director of the Qatari Center for Stamps and Coins Hobbyists, explained in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Ramadan auction represents one of the center’s distinguished activities, pointing to the wide participation of collectors and amateurs from the Gulf and Arab countries, as the offered materials varied. It was distinguished by its abundant number, and included rare materials and groups such as the Qatar and Dubai coin collection and the Indian collection, in addition to proofs of stamps and models of currencies. Ismail pointed out that the center includes, in addition to the auction activity, activities, and participation in exhibitions and festivals, the permanent exhibition of stamps and currencies in Sheikh Saud bin Muhammad bin Ali Al Thani Hall, and includes all Qatari issues of stamps and currencies since 1950 until now, considering it "A distinguished exhibition at the level of the Gulf countries and the Arab world because it contains all the currencies and stamps of Qatar". He also mentioned that the permanent exhibition also contains the center’s participation in the cultural events accompanying the country’s hosting of the FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer World Cup Qatar 2022, and the participation in the stamps and currencies at the permanent headquarters of Darb Al-Saai in Umm Salal Muhammad, which hosted the activities of the country’s national day last year, stressing that the exhibition’s collections stand out Circulating coin, model coin, and commemorative coins, together with stamps and models thereof, and preliminary sketches by artists. It should be noted that the Qatari Center for Stamps and Coins aims to sponsor and spread the hobby of collecting stamps and coins, work to promote it, and create conditions for its members to develop this hobby by organizing exhibitions, auctions, and internal and external participations.
