Zakharova called France’s resolve on cynical Holodomor speculation

The resolution of the National Assembly of France on the recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people has nothing to do with historical reality. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the decision of the French parliamentarians.
The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the adopted resolution demonstrates duplicity and Russophobia and is an attempt to dissect historical events – the common tragedy of the peoples of the USSR – on a national basis.
“For the sake of conjuncture, Paris cynically rejects as useless information the memory of Russians, Belarusians, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz and other inhabitants of the southern regions of the RSFSR, the Volga, the Urals, Central Asia, who have also suffered from this large-scale disaster,” Zakharova recalled.
The diplomat qualified as cynicism the will of the French deputies to reduce the famine in the USSR of the 1930s and the Holocaust to the same denominator. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined that the adoption of a resolution on the Holodomor is “another empty and senseless action by Paris”, the aim of which is to convince the French of the necessity of their further participation in the conflict in Ukraine .
“This is a clear example of pure speculation that Paris is ready to leave to convince citizens of the need to fuel an armed conflict far beyond the borders of their own country,” Zakharova stressed.
The Russian Foreign Ministry complained to Paris that it should first deal with the blank spots in its own history, since “France has not yet closed the page of its crimes from the colonial period”.
