Several countries evacuated their nationals by air, while others headed for the city of Port Sudan on the Red Sea, about 800 kilometers from the capital, Khartoum.
Here are the efforts of some of the countries carrying out evacuations from Sudan:
Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that the Kingdom had repatriated 5,197 people of 100 nationalities from Sudan. The figure includes 184 Saudi citizens.
Egypt Cairo repatriated a total of 6,399 Egyptians, including 1,072 on Friday. On Thursday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said about 16,000 people had crossed the border from Sudan into Egypt, including 14,000 Sudanese.
The bucket
The second evacuation plane from Sudan has arrived in the UAE, carrying 136 UAE passengers, diplomats and nationals of 9 countries.
On Saturday, around 128 people arrived in Abu Dhabi after being evacuated from Sudan, including Britons and Americans.
UNITED STATES
US forces evacuated US and some foreign diplomats on April 22.
Two US officials told Reuters that the USNS Brunswick, a fast transport vessel, is temporarily in Port Sudan. One of them added that it is likely that hundreds of citizens will be evacuated aboard this ship.
Britain said it had evacuated 1,888 people, mostly British nationals and their families, on 21 flights since Tuesday.
Germany
Germany said it had completed the evacuation process from Sudan and added that more than 700 people had left the country by air, including about 200 German citizens.
France
The French government said it had evacuated 936 people from Sudan, including citizens of Britain, the United States, Canada, Ethiopia, the Netherlands, Italy and Sweden, as well as France.
Italy
Italian military planes that took off from Djibouti evacuated 83 Italians and 13 others, including children and the Italian ambassador.
Holland
Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said around 100 Dutch people had been evacuated from Sudan since April 23. Half the number left for Jordan on four Dutch evacuation flights, which also carried around 70 people from 14 other countries. Amsterdam is seeking to evacuate around 150 Dutch in total and has bolstered international efforts with two military planes also available for other nationalities.
Swiss
Switzerland has already closed its embassy and evacuated all its Swiss employees and their families.
Palestinian territories
Ambassador Ahmed Al-Deek, political adviser to the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, said on Sunday that more than 600 Palestinians had been evacuated from Sudan, adding that deportations were continuing.
Russia
Russia has not yet announced an evacuation of members of its embassy or nationals of Khartoum. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russians in Sudan were in close contact with Moscow.
Japan
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the evacuation of all Japanese who wished to leave.
Indonesia
The Foreign Ministry said another group of 363 Indonesian nationals returned to the country on Sunday after being evacuated from Sudan on a second flight by the national airline (Garuda Indonesia).
China
China said most of its citizens had been safely evacuated in groups to neighboring countries. The Department of Defense deployed Navy ships on Wednesday to evacuate citizens. The State Department said about 800 people were transported by sea and more than 300 traveled overland to countries neighboring Sudan from Tuesday to Thursday.
India
India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muralidharan said more than 1,200 Indian evacuees from Sudan arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Thursday and would soon be repatriated.
Canada
Senior government officials said Canada carried out its first evacuation of its citizens from Sudan on Thursday, airlifting more than 100 people, including Canadians and other nationalities, on two flights.
Chad
On Friday, the International Organization for Migration said Chad had carried out the first two evacuation flights from Sudan, carrying more than 200 people, including dozens of children.
Ukraine
Kiev said it rescued 87 of its citizens, mostly pilots, aviation technicians and their families, out of a total of 138 civilians, including Georgian and Peruvian citizens.
Kenya
On Thursday, the Kenyan Foreign Ministry said the government had evacuated 342 people who had arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddah from Port Sudan.
Iran
On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said 65 Iranian citizens left Port Sudan for Iran via the city of Jeddah.
