Sergey Ryabkov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, considered the relations between Russia and the United States "destroyed"indicating that it can be described with a word "Collapse".
Ryabkov said, in a television interview with Russia 24 Today: "We have seen how the US approach has radically changed since the signing and ratification of the New START treaty".
Ryabkov continued:"Perhaps I will describe the current state of these relations in one word and that is the collapse of these relations", considering that the responsibility for this rests with Washington. That explained "The New START treaty has not been liquidated, but it only exists on paper".
Last February, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law to suspend Russia’s participation in the New START treaty with the United States to limit nuclear weapons, while the United States stopped exchanging data on its nuclear arsenal with Russia in response to Putin’s decision.
The New START treaty is the last arms control agreement between Moscow and Washington, after the administration of former US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 1987 Treaty on Medium and Short-Range Missiles, and the Treaty "Open skies". The New START arms reduction treaty is the only remaining major arms control agreement between the United States and Russia, as it limited the nuclear arsenals of both countries to 800 launch systems and 1,550 operational warheads for each.
