NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told a press conference in Brussels on April 4 that Finland’s NATO membership “removes the margin of error in Moscow regarding the will of the ‘NATO Defend Finland’.
He explained that any misunderstanding, misunderstanding or error could be dangerous because it could cause conflict and that the main objective of NATO policy was conflict prevention. Therefore, Finland’s entry into NATO will make it more secure and the alliance itself stronger, Stoltenberg stressed.
According to him, Finland brings significant military potential, powerful forces and an advanced defense industry to the defense alliance.
“Recently, we considered it unthinkable for Finland to join NATO,” Stoltenberg recalled. “But it happened. It is a truly historic event that confirms Finland’s status as a sovereign and independent state that makes its own decisions, as well as NATO’s openness to democratic and sovereign states like Finland.”
