New Delhi. Forgetting years of enmity, Muslim countries living on two different poles like Saudi Arabia and Iran have come together in the month of Ramadan. In March itself, both countries had decided to restore diplomatic relations. Now today the foreign ministers of both countries met in Beijing, the capital of China. After 7 years, there has been a formal meeting between the leaders of both countries. Saudi Arabia shared a picture of the meeting. In this, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan is seen with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdullahian.
The two are seen shaking hands in front of a traditional Chinese painting. He then goes to a conference room for a meeting. In March itself, a decision was taken to restore diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. This meeting also took place due to the interference of China. With this, the tension between the two countries since 2016 has come to an end. According to an Iranian report, the foreign ministers of both countries discussed the necessary steps to open the embassy.
However, the important question is why China is making so much effort for friendship between the two Islamic countries. Experts say that China feels that by befriending Iran and Saudi Arabia, it will get symbolic benefits and will also get a big benefit in the form of oil. Both countries are the world’s largest oil producers and China feels that improving relations with them will ensure an uninterrupted supply of oil. Apart from this, by keeping Saudi Arabia in its fold, America was keeping Iran on one side, and on the other hand it was making inroads in Muslim countries as well.
Alternative world order plan than America
By befriending these countries, China has now reduced American interference and increased its power. In fact, in April last year, after getting the third consecutive term, Xi Jinping talked about the Global Security Initiative. Under this, he announced to increase of China’s penetration across the world and prepare an alternative global order as compared to America. Under this, it has now increased its interference in Arab and Gulf countries. It also imports 40 percent of its crude oil requirement from these countries.
Xi Jinping was given a grand welcome by Saudi Arabia
Xi Jinping also visited Saudi Arabia in December. This was the first visit of a Chinese head of state to Saudi Arabia after decades. It was clear from this visit itself that China is now preparing to write a new chapter of relations with Muslim countries. The attitude of Saudi Arabia also seems to have changed in the last few months. Last year itself, it decided to cut oil production by making an agreement with Russia. America had also objected to this, but Saudi Arabia did not back down. Since then, it is believed that instead of America, Saudi Arabia is seen going in the block of China and Russia.
