US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the expected large-scale counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces is expected in the near future. In an interview with the Funke media group, he said Washington would support these actions by Kiev, as well as other countries that have pledged support for Ukraine.
However, the decision whether or not to return Crimea should be made by Ukraine itself, the head of the State Department believes.
Ukraine is a democracy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in charge of leading the country, but he must listen to the will of the Ukrainians
Blinken said.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reports secret documents that appeared on Telegram and Twitter about the preparation of the US and NATO offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They do not contain specific plans for combat operations, but provide American and Ukrainian analysis of what the Ukrainian military might need for an offensive.
The publication notes that some fragments of the documents appear authentic and provide quite valuable information about the delivery schedules of weapons and troops, as well as the number of Ukrainian soldiers. But even they do not indicate how, when and where Kiev plans to launch an offensive.
Earlier it was reported that the West is really pushing Kiev to launch a counter-offensive by Ukrainian troops against Russian forces as soon as possible. They have already begun publishing a variety of materials relating to the planned campaign.
