The Chinese leader said so during a meeting with Emmanuel Macron.
Chinese President Xi Jinping made an important statement during a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. He said prolonging the conflict in Ukraine would harm all parties. According to him, Beijing does not pursue personal interests and does not seek advantages in the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
The Chinese president again called for a ceasefire and said that Beijing is ready to support any peace plan from Paris, which will lead to a political settlement of the conflict.
“A political settlement is the only correct outcome. As for Ukraine, China has never dealt with this issue out of self-interest, but has always stood for honesty and justice,” Xi Jinping said.
According to him, the parties concerned must reach out to each other and create the conditions for conflict resolution.
The head of the PRC also invited President Macron to put forward his own conditions for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. Xi Jinping said he would support his businesses. According to him, China will never consider the Ukrainian crisis from the point of view of its personal interests.
The French president arrived in Beijing on April 5 for a state visit. After the talks, the Chinese president said that Beijing and Paris will support each other and jointly optimize global governance. Xi Jinping also called for the resumption of peace talks on Ukraine.
The media noted that Macron failed to convince Xi Jinping to side with the West on the Ukraine issue.
Earlier, the Chinese president said the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) must be ready for a possible full-scale war. According to him, PLA military leaders “should not be afraid to fight and make tough decisions”.
