The Organization of Islamic Cooperation stresses the centrality of the Palestinian cause and condemns the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation affirmed all the decisions issued by the organization related to the issue of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and the centrality of the issue of Palestine, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif and its sanctities, for the entire Islamic Ummah, and the eternal connection of Muslims all over the world to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two Qiblas and the third of the Two Holy Mosques. At the end of its extraordinary meeting, the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation affirmed the Arab and Islamic identity of occupied East Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine, refusing to prejudice it in any way, and condemned in the strongest terms the dangerous escalation of the Israeli occupation forces and colonialists by repeatedly storming Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of Ramadan. Damage to the Al-Qibli prayer hall, which is an assault on the existing legal and historical situation, and a serious violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The Committee warned of the consequences of the continued infringement by the Israeli occupation authorities, their officials, and colonizers on the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, including provocations, continuous abuses, assaults, and serious daily incursions, in gross violation of international law, and unprecedented tampering with the existing historical and legal situation, and in an attempt to perpetuate the temporal and spatial division of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It affirmed that the Israeli occupation has no sovereignty over any part of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that Muslim worshipers have the absolute right to pray freely and safely in and around it, at any time, without any hindrance or violence. The Committee held Israel responsible for the consequences of these dangerous provocative actions pursued by the Israeli government by continuing its endeavor, through systematic brutal attacks, deliberate provocation and repeated incitement, to inflame the situation and provoke a religious confrontation with unimaginable consequences, and warned of its repercussions on international peace and security. And called on the international community, and in particular the UN Security Council, in its capacity as responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security, to assume its responsibilities and take urgent action to take the necessary measures to deter and stop the dangerous Israeli escalation, and with it all other illegal and provocative measures and policies that affect the occupied city of Jerusalem and the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Without selectivity or double standards. The Committee called on the member states of the organization and the general secretariat of the organization to take urgent action to address these serious attacks, to activate the mechanisms stipulated in its relevant resolutions to act at all levels, and to send urgent messages to the concerned international bodies, including the Security Council, reflecting the positions of the organization in this regard. It affirms the request to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and the occupied city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and its sanctities, specifically the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the face of illegal attempts to change the current legal and historical situation.

The Islamic Group called on the relevant international organizations to move and initiate the necessary consultations and measures to confront and stop the systematic Israeli attacks in the occupied city of Jerusalem, stressing its continued follow-up to all developments related to the Holy City of Jerusalem, specifically the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to take the appropriate steps in this regard, as stipulated in the resolutions Islamic summits and councils of foreign ministers.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaffirmed the historical Jordanian Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy places in the city of Jerusalem, and its role in protecting these sanctities, preserving the existing legal and historical status therein, and emphasizing that the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department of the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, It is the authority authorized to manage the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque. She reaffirmed the importance of the role of the Jerusalem Committee headed by King Mohammed VI of Morocco in addressing the dangerous policies implemented by the Israeli occupation authorities in Al-Quds Al-Sharif to change the city’s identity and legal status, as well as its demographic, cultural and historical composition, appreciating the role played by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency.
