The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf condemned the Israeli escalation in Jerusalem, the occupation soldiers’ continued violation of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the lack of respect for the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, said in a statement today that the continued incursions and shootings by the Israeli occupation forces in Al-Aqsa Mosque are a violation of the sanctities of sanctities and an aggression against the first qiblah of Muslims, by harassing worshipers in these blessed days, and assaulting Those who are in retreat and expelling them by force of arms, in addition to closing the Ibrahimi Mosque, is a provocation to the feelings of Muslims all over the world, an assault on the legal status of holy places, and a violation of historically agreed status quo arrangements, in addition to being a serious violation of international law and United Nations resolutions in this regard.
He stressed that the continued brutal violations and attacks on sanctities in the occupied Palestinian territories is a dangerous turning point, and the Israeli government bears all responsibilities and consequences that would fuel the situation and ignite the fire of sedition and hatred.
He noted that all the statements issued by the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf confirm the firm positions of the GCC countries regarding the Palestinian issue and the sanctity of holy places, the latest of which was the statement issued by the forty-third session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council, which emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause and its support for the sovereignty of the people. The Palestinian Authority on all the Palestinian lands occupied since June 1967 AD, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the guarantee of the rights of refugees, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the resolutions of international legitimacy. He also affirmed the Cooperation Council’s call on the international community to intervene.
The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf called on the international community to take practical steps towards protecting Palestinian civilians, and to stop targeting the Palestinian presence in the city of Jerusalem, and attempts to change its legal nature, demographic composition, and arrangements for Islamic holy places.
