Since October last year, the girls have played four games between themselves. In the fall, one match ended in a draw (2:2), the Russians won the second (2:0). It should be noted that the class of Yuri Krasnozhan’s team is objectively superior to that of the Belarusians. Last summer, Russia was supposed to participate in the final phase of the European Championship, but for unsportsmanlike reasons, FIFA and UEFA suspended the national team from international competitions.
The Russians approached the matches with Belarus against the backdrop of a tough training camp in Turkey. According to the head coach of the team, Yuri Krasnozhan, during the first meeting, her pupils were tired, while during the second, the girls were physically easier.
- We approached the second game in a calmer state, we already knew the weaknesses of the Belarusian national team, we understood which areas could be used. We managed to reduce the number of direct losses. Maybe the opponents didn’t fully recover after the first game, but we weren’t very fresh either. In general, we managed to consolidate the material that took place at the training camp in Turkey, we checked our abilities with an equal opponent. Now the main thing is that the girls return to the clubs, do without injuries, and in three months we will see them again, stressed Krasnozhan.
According to Tatyana Petrova, who scored one of the goals of the game for Belarus, the Russians were opposed by a very strong opponent: “Compared to the first game, we created more chances in attack. We analyzed the actions of the Belarusians, figured out how to act, and I transferred everything to the field. I managed to score my first goal for the national team – the emotions are incredible. Belarus is a strong team, so the victory over them adds positive emotions” said Tatyana Petrova.
In the meantime
In the Russian football championship, it’s time for decisive matches. According to the results of the 22nd round, the tournament leader “Zenith” has further increased its lead over its competitors. Last weekend, the Saint Petersburg club beat the Urals at home (2-0), coached by Belarusian specialist Viktor Goncharenko. By the way, there is also a Belarusian in the Zenit team headquarters – we are talking about goalkeeper coach Yuri Zhevnov. Thus, after beating the Yekaterinburg team, the Blues-Whites-Blues with 54 points broke away from Rostov by nine points. In turn, the Rostovites with Belarusian Alexander Selyava drew in the meeting with Orenburg (2-2), scoring two goals at the very end. Note that in the next round, “Rostov” will just take “Zenith”. This will probably be the last chance for the Rostovites to salvage the chances of winning the league title.
