Russian Ambassador to the United States Antonov: Washington and Moscow have maintained contacts in several areas

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov spoke about the areas in which cooperation between Moscow and Washington is maintained in a difficult global situation. Countries continue to discuss resolving the conflict in Syria and are also developing partnerships in space exploration, Antonov told the Big Game program.

“You may ask me, what remains of Russian-American relations? I will answer: it is cooperation in the field of space, alas, the situation with the treaty on the reduction of strategic offensive arms is half alive, we maintain contacts on the line of conflict in Syria, “said Antonov.

In addition, the Russian Ambassador to the United States drew attention to the situation of the work of journalists in the two countries. According to him, there are many American journalists in Moscow. While the United States does not really allow the visit of correspondents from the Russian Federation. Antonov believes that the situation should be mutual and that it would not hurt to reduce the number of American journalists in Russia.

Earlier, Anatoly Antonov said that Washington still had not authorized the arrival of a special flight of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to New York, where he was due to attend the April UN events. The head of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation announced the absence of visas for Lavrov and demanded that the American side coordinate the arrival of the special counsel of the head of the foreign policy department without delay.
