New York: Former US President Donald Trump was questioned for nearly seven hours on Thursday by the New York Attorney General’s office in connection with a lawsuit over his company’s business activities. Trump testified for the second time in connection with a lawsuit filed over business activities. The Republican leader met with attorneys general Letitia James. James filed suit against the former president last year. The attorney general’s suit claimed that Trump and his family misled banks by providing false information about their net worth and the value of properties such as hotels and golf courses.
The suit is separate from the criminal charges filed against Trump by the Manhattan district attorney. Shortly after Trump entered the Manhattan building in which James’ offices are located, his lawyer Elina Habba said he “not only wants to testify, but he is eager to.” After the testimony was completed, Trump’s business attorney Christopher Casey said that the former president “explained his business success for about seven hours.” that no fraud has taken place.
At the same time, James refused to answer a question asked about the testimony at the press conference on Wednesday. In a post on social media on Thursday morning, Trump called the lawsuit “an attempt to influence the election and ridiculous like any other case.” In an earlier post, the former president had said, “One of the nice things about a lawsuit is that I can show what a great, profitable and valuable company I’ve built.” had met with James’ lawyers but declined to answer other than a few procedural questions. The hearing of the lawsuit filed by James is expected to begin in October.
