The initiative of State Duma deputy Oleg Nilov to introduce a military tax in Russia for the needs of the army will only irritate society. Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation for International and Economic Relations Leonid Kalashnikov shared his opinion.

“Let’s say that according to Oleg Nilov’s idea, we will distribute three percent to everyone. Thus, it turns out that they will be paid both by the poor Russians in the hinterland and by the rich, who have settled in their castles in London. In my opinion, this “equalization” is unfair. And, moreover, it can cause irritation in our society, ”said the interlocutor, quoted by Free Press.

As an alternative, the parliamentarian proposed a progressive scale of taxation. Of the income of a certain share, 1% or more could be used for the needs of a military special operation. Thus, the Russians will know where the taxes they transfer are directed.

According to Nilov’s initiative, a military personal income tax in the amount of 2-3% should be imposed on all men under the age of 45. Thus, soldiers of the armed forces could receive monetary allowances in the amount of 400-500 thousand rubles instead of the currently established 200 thousand rubles.
