The launch of the “wisdom” program To benefit from the experiences of the elderly

– Published on:

The Excellence Center for Training and Consultation, in cooperation with the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care “Ihsan”, launched the “Hikma” training program under the auspices of Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misned, Minister of Social Development and Family, in the presence of a large number of officials of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the centers under its umbrella, including Doha Institute for Graduate Studies officials, the elderly and a number of guests. The ceremony began with a speech by His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Kuwari, CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, who noted the need to work to consolidate and strengthen the principles of investing in the elderly in our Qatari society, and to benefit from their experiences and capabilities to create a state of balance between the old and the new generation. The need to establish a bridge of communication between generations in order to build a future based on solid foundations that are in line with the vision and strategy of the State of Qatar. The program targets the elderly. The Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan), represented by Mr. Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Khayarin, Executive Director of the Center, and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, represented by Ms. Iman Al-Sulaiti, Executive Director of the Administrative and Financial Sector, signed the memorandum of understanding, after which the two sides will begin work on the contents of the provisions Convention. For his part, Mr. Fahd bin Muhammad al-Khayarin, Executive Director of the Elderly Empowerment and Care Center (Ehsan), stressed the importance of this program, which targets the elderly among the center’s employees in addition to the center’s employees, and what it will have a positive impact on their skills and experiences in favor of the elderly. Al-Khayareen added that Ihsan Center always seeks to create permanent and effective partnerships similar to this agreement concluded between it and the Center of Excellence for Training and Consulting, through which we fly to broad horizons for the benefit and benefit of all. The Institute for the “Hikma” program, in which participants will be trained to benefit from the experiences of the elderly, appreciating the efforts of the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly “Ihsan” in caring for the issues of the elderly and promoting a positive view of them in society. Our values honor the elderly. Al-Afandi added that the values that call for reverence for the elders and their good care and empowerment are still alive and present in our Arab and Islamic societies, along with the values of family cohesion, kinship ties, righteousness to parents, and other noble values enshrined in our true religion. At the same time, however, the onslaught of modernity and its constraints should not be underestimated. We are witnessing the influence of the values of individualism, rebellion and isolation that appeal to new generations. This necessitates taking proactive measures so that our societies do not follow the doctrine of family disintegration that other societies have followed. It is not enough here to simply preserve these values, but rather they must be developed and strengthened, and even marketed to the world, who will find attractive models in the practices of solidarity and mutual care in our societies. We must export goodness rather than import problems. In the coming months, the Hikma program seeks to train no less than 200 young men and women on advanced skills and societal values in the field of benefiting from the experiences of the elderly and working to build bridges between the old and the new generation. With the aim of investing all societal energies, and then, in the second phase of the program, no less than 100 elderly men and women will be trained in order to strengthen this communication network between young people and the elderly, to benefit from their expertise in all fields within institutions in Qatar.
