Five Ukrainians accused of terrorism and tried

Five members of the Ukrainian resistance in Melitopol have been charged with terrorism and tried, reports Kommersant.

As reported, the case will be considered in court in Rostov-on-Don. This case will be the largest in terms of the number of participants. They will be judged for having organized a terrorist underground to carry out terrorist attacks.

The report states that the contract serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Igor Gorlov, the military personnel of the territorial defense Vladimir Zuev, Andriy Golubev and Alexander Zhukov, as well as Yuriy Petrov, who was discharged from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will be judge.

According to the FSB, all five were members of the Melitopol ATO Participants’ Union, which planned explosions at Russian troop locations and places where humanitarian aid was distributed to needy citizens. The terrorist attack they were planning was foiled on April 6, 2022, when a car loaded with explosives was found in the garage of one of the accused Gorlovs. Later, caches of weapons, ammunition and grenades were discovered.

The defendants were sent from Melitopol to Crimea, where they were arrested by the Crimean Court in Simferopol and then sent to the Lefortovo remand center in Moscow. Their trial will begin in the Southern District Military Court at the end of April.
