A 25-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod was freed from slavery in the Ryazan region. The information was disseminated by the volunteer organization Alternativa. Elina was born in Kazan, and some time after moving to Nizhny Novgorod, due to a number of tragic events she was left alone – without relatives and friends ready to help her, a roof over her head, but with a 4 month old baby in her arms. Then she came across an ad from a charitable foundation that offered to help with housing and get rid of addictions. In November last year, Elina turned to the authors of the announcement, and they very quickly came to pick her up. The mother and child were taken to a private house in the Ryazan region, where she had to cook and clean. Elina was not allowed to leave the house, she could even approach the child only during feeding. Several men also lived in the house, who worked as on-call electricians and plumbers. Men’s documents were at the head of the fund, they also took away all the winnings. When Elina asked to be released, they offered to sleep with several residents of the house in return. In March, Elina and her sick child ended up in the hospital, from where she called the volunteers. They met the mother and child when they were discharged from the hospital and took them to Moscow, where they were placed in an orphanage. The woman will not go to the police.
