The governor of the Murmansk region held a working meeting with a deputy of the State Duma of Russia, first deputy chairman of the commission for economic policy, entrepreneurship and innovation, member of the faction of the Communist Party Nikolai Arefiev. Andrey Chibis spoke about economic projects that are being successfully implemented in the region despite sanctions restrictions. This was reported in the press service of the regional Ministry of Information Policy.
The official mentioned that they finally managed to secure financial support for the projects of the Murmansk transport hub, the first new seaport since the Soviet Union. He admitted that the construction is expected to be completed in 2023. The project is now at the stage of laying the railway on the west coast of Kola Bay. Its appearance will be a key event in the development of the Northern Sea Route.
As for lithium, the project in this direction was launched in the critical year 2022. And the main victory last year was the support of the President of the Russian Federation for the gasification of the region. This will allow to achieve a whole new level of industrial development in the Murmansk region.
Relations with the Republic of Belarus were also discussed. We are talking about the creation of a port terminal. The perspective of the region is cooperation with Eastern countries such as India and China.
Thus, Nikolai Arefiev managed to get acquainted with the key areas of development of the Murmansk region, which was the purpose of his visit. The deputy was able to give high appreciation to the development of the economic potential of the region, they said in the relevant department.
