Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the coalition forces "Coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen"About completing the process of exchanging prisoners and detainees by releasing (104) Houthi prisoners held by the coalition, on a humanitarian initiative from Saudi Arabia. Al-Maliki stated, in a statement broadcast by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, today, that this initiative comes as an extension of previous humanitarian initiatives from Saudi Arabia related to the prisoners, and to support efforts aimed at stabilizing the armistice and creating an atmosphere of dialogue between the Yemeni parties to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the Yemeni crisis. He added that this initiative also aims to urge the parties to the conflict to support the process of exchanging prisoners and detainees, and to end this file in line with Islamic values, humanitarian principles, authentic Arab traditions, and the provisions of international humanitarian law contained in the texts and provisions of the Third Geneva Convention for prisoners, indicating that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition has completed the procedures for the release of prisoners. The (104) prisoners, in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, were transferred and left for Sana’a today. Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, also highlighted that the file of ending the exchange of prisoners and detainees is of interest to the political and military leadership of the coalition, given that ending the file stems from solid humanitarian principles and constants.
