NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said a number of secret Pentagon documents that have surfaced on the internet as a result of leaks are not true.
“We have all seen that some of these leaks are fake and manipulated. I don’t think they will affect what NATO allies do in relation to Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said in an interview with CNN.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has instructed defense officials to review all methods of handling documents at the Pentagon so as to no longer allow leaks.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said authorities in the country continue to verify the authenticity of secret documents leaked by the Pentagon. He also instructed intelligence services and the military to take steps to protect classified data to prevent repeated leaks.
