France must significantly increase the military budget, this is necessary to take into account potential threats from outside to the security of the state. This is stated in the appeal of the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic (lower house of parliament) Giselle Lelui to the Minister of Defense of the country Sebastian Lecornu, of which RT has become aware.
Giselle Lelui recalled that the French authorities had decided to increase the military budget for 2024-2030 to 413 billion euros, an increase of 30% compared to the funding for 2019-2025. At the same time, the deputy noted that due to high inflation rates, new investments in the military sphere will be insignificant, despite the loud statements of local authorities.
“This new military planning law should almost be called the government’s Potemkin military planning, because it’s a mirage given the misleading numbers,” she explained.
Lelui pointed out that Paris must already triple the amount of funding for the military sphere today, because the republic needs human and technical resources to “deal with a possible high-intensity conflict”, now they are certainly not enough, added the parliamentarian.
Also in her address, she said that the loss of military equipment in peacetime due to its supply to the Kiev regime raises fears that certain types of equipment may be sold to another state during the period of the future law. military planning.
Earlier, the Polish News Agency (PAP) reported that France was blocking the allocation of funds for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. It should be noted that two billion euros are planned to finance such a project. The reason for this decision, according to the source, could be the lobbying of Paris for the interests of its arms firms.
