Ahmedabad; Fast bowler Trent Boult said that the Rajasthan Royals batting unit has been a positive aspect of different players performing well for the team at different times.
Rajasthan Royals chased down the target of 178 for the loss of seven wickets against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The team was in a difficult situation losing two wickets for four runs after the first three overs but impressive batting by captain Sanju Samson (60) and Shimron Hetmyer (56 not out) took them to victory with four balls to spare. “We have some very talented batsmen in our team and I think the real positive is that different players have put in strong performances for the team at different times,” Boult said at the post-match press conference.
The 33-year-old New Zealand fast bowler said, “Jose (Butler) is obviously a big player for us and I am sure he will regret not scoring runs in this match.” But the hunger to contribute by other players in the batting unit is amazing. “The captain (Samson) took a lot of pressure there. He tried to take the game forward and got the team back in the match. He got good support from other players.
He also lauded pacer Sandeep Sharma along with the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Adam Zampa for putting constant pressure on the Titans batsmen. Boult, who took one wicket for 46 runs in his four overs, said, “Clearly 12 overs from the spinners got us back in the match. Every over counts but Sandy (Sandeep Sharma) bowled brilliantly in the last over. To stop them around 175 on this wicket was fantastic. Sandeep showed us how to bowl with length and good swing.
