NPO Androidnaya Tekhnika announced that the Russian robot Marker will be equipped with a small-sized BAS-80 kamikaze drone specially created for him. The drone has a shock orientation and can be delivered to the target with high accuracy.
The “BAS-80” drone was created to provide the “Marker” robot with additional capabilities. Now “BAS-80” is tested without a warhead, but in the future it will be used as a strike system.
The company’s chief developer, Evgeny Dudorov, explained to RIA Novosti the performance characteristics of the BAS-80 kamikaze drone. It weighs 1.7 kg without warhead and can carry a payload of around 600 grams. The flight range is up to 30 kilometers, and the time in the air is up to 18 minutes.
Android technology specialists are currently working on technologies for launching, controlling and delivering a suicide drone. Additionally, Dudorov noted that these unmanned vehicles are lighter and cheaper than those currently used by the Russian military.
Previously, the company sent four copies of the Marker robot for testing in the Donbass, where they were used to practice delivering goods and operating an optoelectronic module with a payload.
